Ground rules for purchasing bathroom faucets

Water is the most essential and crucial element of life. The pandemic that has been affecting the world for the last two and a half years has particularly asserted the significance of cleanliness and personal hygiene. Though a renewable and sustainable resource, water currently faces a continuously increasing threat due to rapid and irresponsible consumption. This threat only reminds us to be more conscious of our water consumption.

While governments, associations, and organizations take global measures, we, the individuals, are responsible for preventing further overconsumption of global resources by advocating water efficiency at home. Bathrooms and kitchens are the main fronts of water efficiency at home. All faucets, shower heads, and batteries we will choose for our bathrooms and kitchens will contribute to responsible water efficiency. Therefore, we need to make wise choices. Creavit made a list of ground rules for purchasing bathroom faucets and batteries to appreciate the value of water.

What is a faucet and what is it made of?

A faucet, frequently found in bathrooms and kitchens, is in fact a valve that controls liquid or gas flow. The mechanism installed at the end of the sanitary piping to allow/prevent water flow is called a faucet. Often made of brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, faucets may be installed in systems and named after their location such as a shower/bathtub battery, kitchen sink battery, or washbasin battery. Brass is often the preferred main material as it does not rust, spoil the taste of water, and is resistant to lime depending on the region. There are also faucets made of other materials, but they are rarely installed in houses as they are fragile and not suitable for household use.

What are the types of shower/bathtub faucets?

There are hundreds of shower/bathtub models on the market for various budgets and needs. Faucets are often categorized by properties. Divided into two by installation, as flush-mounted and surface-mounted, faucets are grouped into two as single- or double-handle by use. There are also other categories of shower/bathtub faucets by design, water flow rate or area of use.

Single Lever Faucets

These are the preferred shower/bathtub and kitchen faucets of recent years. Also called single-hole faucets, water flow is controlled by a single handle in these durable models.

Double Handle Faucets

These faucets feature two separate handles on either side of the spout to adjust hot and cold water. They have been high in demand as the traditional bathtub/shower faucets for a vintage look in the bathroom.

What to keep in mind when purchasing a faucet?

As important as design is, the functionality should also be a criterion when purchasing a faucet. Quality products are highly advised for longer use. Faucets are not easy to install and require knowledge of piping to a certain extent. Therefore, mind the installation method when choosing a product. The durability of the shower/bathtub and kitchen faucets is just as crucial. Mind the varying levels of lime in the public water system all across Turkey and choose a lime-resistant product.

Some design features may also influence your choice of shower/bathtub faucets. For instance, opting for a single-handle battery or bathroom/shower faucet will ease the use for the elderly and children. Another point to consider, in addition to design, is the setting of the faucet. A kitchen sink faucet, for instance, should be tall enough to rinse fruits or vegetables without hindrance. That's why the smallest details matter when choosing a faucet. Keep in mind that a shower/washbasin faucet is not the same as a washbasin faucet.

How Should A Washbasin Faucet Be?

Washbasin faucets are equipped with two holes for hot and cold water, whether they have a single or double handle. That's why they should be durable to hot water in terms of materials and overall design. The washbasin faucet should also be of lime-resistant quality to stand the level of lime in the regional water. No-leak and no-drip quality faucets will prove more comfortable in use. Durable, no-leak and no-drip quality products will also ensure longer product life. Last but not least, spot-resist and easy-to-clean models will contribute to bathroom and kitchen hygiene, where it is of vital importance.

What to keep in mind when purchasing a shower/bathtub faucet?

Opt for shower/bathtub faucets that respond to the above guidelines and are compatible with your bathroom design for optimized functionality in shower/bathtub faucets. While single or double-handle options depend on user profile, controlling the water flow rate is a crucial quality in shower/bathtub faucets as it enables water efficiency for the protection of natural resources. Another question that comes up when hunting for faucets or batteries is the average price range. Like any other bathroom equipment, there is no certain answer as to the price of washbasin faucets.
